Get the Grill Out

To say that Arizona’s legislature is out of control is an understatement. We’ve seen everything from a volunteer militia bill to a birthright citizenship bill that aims to deny birth certificates to children born of undocumented parents. We’ve also seen a proposed bill to nullify Federal laws. The latter is self-proclaimed Tea Party Senate President Russell Pearce’s attempt to secede from the Union. At this point nothing would surprise us as Arizona’s legislature creates laws that target Immigrants while lending itself to the violation of Latino’s rights.

These legislators who in all probability employ undocumented Immigrants in some form or fashion whether as subcontractors or as employees of companies who may be doing their landscaping or tile work are certainly shooting themselves in the foot.

Every time a new law is created under Senate President Russell Pearce’s regime, there are less skilled laborers in specialized areas that are responsible for anything from tile laying, hand crafted wood rails for custom homes, painters that create on mansion walls in affluent Arizona homes and cooks that currently work in the finest restaurants in Phoenix.

Well these state legislators and the rest of the racists, xenophobes and nativists better get their grills out and throw that apron on because if the Arizona State Legislature has its way, you won’t have any cooks left in Arizona’s restaurants.
SB1490 sponsored by State Senator Ron Gould out of Lake Havasu City, Arizona will ensure that food handlers will have to show their papers in order to get a food handlers license.

In accordance with health department regulations a food handler, be it a cook or prep cook must have in his possession a food handlers license in order to comply with the regulations as set forth and in order for the eating establishment that employees them to stay in good standing with their permit to operate.

We are looking at establishments from taco shops to fine restaurants entering into crisis mode. This will cause the closing of many small eating establishments and certainly place a great strain on others as they struggle to find qualified experienced help to cook those tasty treats that even the state legislators consume daily with their families.

So break out the grill and thrown on your apron folks. Finding a good meal in Arizona is going to get tougher. Russell Pearce’s master plan of ethnic cleansing through attrition by enforcement is sure to get rid of not just your landscapers, nannies, construction workers, but now you can kiss your finely prepared food goodbye. All courtesy of the Arizona State Legislature, and its fiftieth legislative session focused on an anti-Immigrant agenda.
